As Sweet children, we grew up very biologically sound. We were taught at a young age the proper or scientific words for body parts. When James was five years old, my mom was pregnant with Jeremy. My mom had James at the office and two elderly women asked James how he felt about his mommy having a baby in her tummy. He said I think the baby is in her uterus. With our dad as a doctor and our mom having a medical background we were very aware of our sciences.
Growing up Healthy! Growing up as a Sweet child was tough. We never got sick days home from school. Our dad was always of the opinion that a fever was a good thing. Because if someone is sick and they have a fever it means their body is working. A fever comes from your body trying to speed up the healing process. Mornings of trying to convince him to let us not go to school were as follows... Sweet child (any of the five of us)- "I'm sick, I have a fever" Dad "good"... child "but dad that means I am sick"... Dad "well if you were sick and didn't have a fever I would be more concerned, if you are sick you need to be adjusted".* As Sweet children we learned to listen to our bodies, and took good care of them.
As adults all of us are under chiropractic care. Angela, James, Jeff, Matt and I (Jenni), are all seen by our dad on a regular basis. Jeremy and his wife, Rachel, live in Indiana and say the commute is too far so they regularly see a chiropractor in Indiana.
As the youngest child ever adjusted by Dr. Sweet (45 minutes old), I have grown up being adjusted regularly. The longest I have even gone without an adjustment (my whole life) is 1 month. I lead a healthy life, proper food, exercise, sleep, and so on. However, I know I am healthy because of my regular chiropractic adjustments. I don't even get "normal headaches" because in reality "normal headaches" are not normal! I am thankful to my dad and mom for instilling in me healthy values. While my mom was pregnant with me she was adjusted regularly, this made her body work so that I was well taken care of. I was naturally born in the comfort of my parent's bedroom. Since day one my parents set me up for success.
I encourage pregnant woman to be examined not only for the health of their spine but for the one developing in their ...uterus!... or "tummy". Being adjusted while pregnant can make the birthing process much easier. And once the baby is born it should be examined for subluxations. Just because the baby is perfect does not mean it is free from subluxations.
* I am in no way saying that there are not times that fevers get too high; too high can be dangerous.
